Bulky-Goods
Fulfillment
We store, pick and ship your bulky and heavy goods (furniture, sports equipment, outdoor items) on pallets or by freight forwarder, including customs for EU shipments.
Bulky items break the mould of most fulfillment providers: they don't fit on a shelf, they need a pallet or two-person handling, and standard shipping stops working above a certain weight. ShipHugo is built for exactly this case. We take in goods single-SKU or mixed, store them on pallet spaces, pick even heavy individual items and hand them off to parcel, bulky-goods or freight carriers depending on size and weight. For shipments to Germany and the EU, we handle customs and import VAT right along with it.
What goods this is built for
Typical candidates are furniture and furniture parts, mattresses, sports and fitness equipment, outdoor and garden items, e-bikes and bike components, machine tools, and anything that weighs more than 15 kg or exceeds the edge length of a normal parcel. We handle both large items sold individually and palletised goods that move on as a whole.
For storage we use pallet spaces instead of shelf bins, billed at a fixed monthly rate per pallet. Smaller add-on items, such as assembly material or accessories, we store alongside on the shelf at a fixed monthly rate, so a mixed range is served from a single source.
How the process works
Goods-in and recording
We take in your delivery (single-SKU at a fixed rate per delivery, mixed deliveries a bit more involved), check quantity and condition, and book everything into the control centre with 99.7% inventory accuracy.
Pallet storage
Bulky goods go on pallet spaces (fixed monthly rate), small accessories on the shelf, both visible live in inventory and with no minimum volume.
Pick, pack and protective packaging
We pick even heavy individual items per order for articles over 15 kg and pack them transport-safe, including label and document printing at a small rate per print.
Shipping and customs
Depending on size and weight, we ship as a parcel, bulky goods or by freight forwarder via the rate calculator, for EU shipments from the EU with customs and VAT handling.
Cross-Border and customs clearance
Shipping bulky goods abroad often fails on the combination of weight, customs value and VAT. From the EU we ship within the EU, without every shipment having to cross the Swiss border individually. That noticeably cuts lead time and customs effort, especially for furniture and large appliances with a high goods value.
For direct shipments from Switzerland to Germany and the EU, we handle the customs declaration and import VAT. You get transparent rates via the rate calculator (Swiss Post domestic as well as FedEx, UPS and DHL for the EU and worldwide), with no hidden fees and no forced term.
What else matters with bulky goods
Returns of large items are more involved than with small goods, so we work with a clear flat-rate approach: returns handling runs at a fixed rate per item, including inspection, restocking of usable goods and a status update in the control centre. At a return rate of 1.9%, that stays easy to budget for.
We set up your start once (onboarding at a fixed rate), then operations run on a predictable system and support fee at a fixed monthly rate. Everything else you pay by usage: storage, Pick & Pack and shipping, with no minimum volume and no fixed contract commitment.

FAQCommon questions
Questions about bulky-goods fulfillment
From what weight and size does an item count as bulky goods?
We treat anything that weighs more than 15 kg or exceeds the edge dimensions of a standard parcel as bulky goods. Pick & Pack for articles over 15 kg we bill per order; the right shipping route (parcel, bulky goods or freight) follows from size and weight in the rate calculator.
Can you store pallets and small parts together for me?
Yes. We store bulky goods on pallet spaces at a fixed monthly rate, and small accessories alongside on the shelf at a fixed monthly rate. You see both inventories live in the control centre, and a mixed range is served from a single source.
How do you ship heavy furniture to Germany?
From the EU we ship within the EU without each shipment crossing the border on its own, which reduces lead time and customs effort. For direct shipments from Switzerland, we handle the customs declaration and import VAT, and the rates run transparently via the rate calculator.
Is there a minimum volume or a fixed term?
No. There's no minimum volume and no forced contract term. After the one-time onboarding and the monthly system and support fee, you pay for storage, Pick & Pack and shipping purely by usage.
