Food & Beverage
We store, pick and ship your food and beverages to the exact best-before date by FEFO, with batch-tracked inventory and fast turnaround for CH and EU.
Food & Beverage forgives no sloppiness: an expired best-before date, a wrongly picked batch, or a pallet that sits too long in the warehouse costs you money and trust directly. ShipHugo tracks your inventory to the exact batch and best-before date, picks strictly by FEFO (First Expired, First Out), and ships from Switzerland for Swiss shipping and from the EU for EU shipping. With 99.7 percent inventory accuracy and avg. 1.2 days turnaround, you always know which batch is where and how long it stays sellable.
Best-before and batch tracking as a core process
Every goods-in is recorded with batch and best-before date, not just as an item quantity. Picking then runs automatically by FEFO: the system always releases the batch with the next expiring best-before date for pick-out first, so no leftover stock quietly ages on the shelf.
In the control center, you see per-item inventory by batch and remaining shelf life in real time. Configurable thresholds alert you when a batch enters critical remaining shelf life, so you can decide on promotions, sell-offs, or recalls in time, before goods become unsellable.
How your goods move through our operation
Goods-in with batch and best-before date
We check the delivery, record batch and best-before date, and book it in single-SKU at a fixed rate per delivery, with mixed deliveries a bit more involved.
Temperature-appropriate put-away
Dry goods go onto the shelf at a fixed monthly rate or onto a pallet space at a fixed monthly rate, refrigerated goods into the temperature-controlled area.
Pick & Pack by FEFO
When an order comes in, we pick the batch with the nearest best-before date at a fixed rate per order for the first item and a small rate for each additional item, packed break-proof.
Shipping CH and EU
Domestic goes via Swiss Post, EU shipments via FedEx, UPS, or DHL from the EU, with customs and VAT handling for cross-border.
Breakage, cold chain, and heavy containers
Beverages and glass items demand packaging that holds up in transit. We pack bottles and heavy containers secured with cushioning and divider layers; shipments over 15 kg run on the heavier Pick-&-Pack rate at a higher rate. For temperature-sensitive goods, we match the shipping window and insulation to the transit time.
Returns for food are tricky, because consumable goods generally can't go back into sellable inventory. We accept returns at a fixed rate per case, check condition and best-before date, and book them cleanly as blocked stock or destruction, so expired goods are never accidentally shipped again.
Cross-border Switzerland and EU
Cross-border food shipping is more than a shipping label: customs tariff numbers, origin, VAT, and country-specific requirements all have to be right. From Switzerland we serve the Swiss market, from the EU the EU, so your EU customers are supplied domestically and you save yourself import hurdles on every single shipment.

FAQCommon questions
Questions about Food & Beverage
Does ShipHugo actively manage the best-before date?
Yes. We record best-before date and batch at goods-in and pick strictly by FEFO, so the batch with the shortest remaining shelf life always goes out first. In the control center, you see remaining shelf life per batch and get alerts before goods become critical.
Can you store refrigerated food?
We store dry goods on the shelf or on the pallet, temperature-sensitive goods in the temperature-controlled area. For shipping, we match insulation and transit time to each other. Talk to us about your temperature profile so we can set the right storage location.
How do you handle returns for food?
We accept returns at a fixed rate per case, check condition and best-before date, and book the goods as blocked stock or for destruction. Consumable goods don't automatically go back into sellable inventory, so expired items are never shipped again.
Do you also ship food to the EU?
Yes. From the EU, we supply the EU domestically, including customs and VAT handling for cross-border. That way, your EU customers get the goods quickly, without each shipment having to be imported individually.
